Practice goal

Get a reliable baseline without sacrificing accuracy for a short-lived WPM score.

How it works

One focused session, one clear outcome

  1. 01

    Type for 60 seconds

The timer starts with your first keystroke, so setup time never affects the result.

  2. 02

    Review speed and accuracy

See WPM, raw speed, accuracy, consistency, weak keys, and difficult words.

  3. 03

    Practice the limiting skill

TypeHabit recommends one focused drill instead of leaving you with a score alone.

Why practice this

Build skill that carries into real work

  • A full minute provides a more stable sample than a short burst.
  • Accuracy-adjusted WPM discourages rushing through mistakes.
  • No account is required to run or review the test.
  • Your result leads directly into targeted practice.

Common questions

What to expect

What is a good typing speed?

A useful target depends on your work. Consistent, accurate typing matters more than a single peak score. Use your first result as a baseline and improve from there.

How is WPM calculated?

WPM is based on correctly typed characters divided into standard five-character words, adjusted for the elapsed time. Accuracy and raw WPM are shown separately.

Should I correct mistakes during the test?

Type naturally. Correcting mistakes reflects real work, while the result still records the errors and keys that interrupted your flow.
